Something about winter in the Haliburton Highlands beckons us to get outside and embrace the cold. And there is no better way to experience nature’s splendor than on the snowshoeing trails. Imagine snowshoeing in Ontario on winter mornings where pink and orange skies fill the horizon and snow sparkles on tree branches. Or imagine walking through a unique collection of sculptures sitting amongst a picturesque winter scene. You can witness these winter landscapes and more in the Haliburton Highlands, where endless trails are waiting to be discovered. Stay with us at Sir Sam’s Inn and Spa and utilize our relaxing WaterSpa for the perfect way to warm up after a day on the trails.
Sir Sam’s Ski and Ride
We are located adjacent to Sir Sam’s Ski and Ride so that you can access the snowshoe trails here with ease. There are three kilometers of trails that wind past panoramic views of Eagle Lake and Moose Lake. Please purchase a snowshoe trail pass from the ticket window before you head out on the trails.
Glebe Park
Glebe Park is an excellent destination for snowshoeing in Ontario. If you don’t have snowshoes, you can rent some from the Haliburton Highlands Museum in the park. Glebe Park has over 175 acres of woodlands with several snowshoeing trails available to the public. You can also snowshoe past the Haliburton Sculpture Forest, which features over 30 sculptures in a remarkable outdoor gallery. The artwork ranges from creative benches to sculptures of local wildlife and abstract designs.
Haliburton Forest
Even though Haliburton Forest is known as “Ontario’s snowmobiling wonderland,” you can find three beautiful snowshoeing trails here. The trails available are all under a mile each and are easy enough for everyone to enjoy. This year you can explore a brand new winter trail called the Wild Woods Walk. This 3km trail will take you through mixed hardwood forests blanketed by snow.
