The Dog Sled Tour Experience
Each two-hour Ontario dog sledding tour begins with introductions and instructions. Learn the basics of driving a dog team and meet your team of sled dogs before the tour. After the brief orientation, you will start your journey. One person will drive the dogs while the other rides in the sled. Switch off during the trip, so both of you can experience driving or riding. Your guide will be on their own sled, guiding you through the terrain.
Snuggle up in the wooden basket-style sled, complete with cushions and blankets, for a cozy ride. Take in the sights of the winter wilderness as you navigate the scenic Barnhardt Lake and sugar shack trails. You will be on the trail for approximately 60 minutes.
Then you will return to the starting point and have additional time with your team of huskies. This is your opportunity to show them some love and take pictures together.
Tours are available for up to two adults with a combined weight of 400lbs or less.
Prepare for Your Tour
Two-hour tours are offered daily at 10:00 am and 2:30 pm, from mid-December through late March.
- It’ll be cold on the trails, so we highly recommend bundling up and packing essentials like thermal underwear, wool socks, mittens, and winter jackets. Find the complete list of what to bring at the bottom of the tours page.
- Read through the FAQ page for more information on the dogs, tours, and health and fitness.
- Dog sledding is not just sitting and letting the dogs pull you around. It’s an active sport that requires effort. If you can comfortably walk up two flights of stairs without getting winded, then you are fit enough for the tour.
